Last June I had the pleasure seeing a new solo-show of artist Alexis Anne Macenzie at ParkLife in the Ricmond district of SF. I was immediately drawn to her colorful collages of beautiful and bizarre objects. Each piece is carefully put together, some even share great little says such as ‘Never Be Sad’, ‘To Me It Matters’, and ‘True Love’. Hope you enjoy it as much as me.

I’ve been wanting to decorate Easter eggs for some time now, pretty little packages made to celebrate spring! History’s take on it – celebrates the rebirth of the earth. Take a look at these awesome eggs- so intricate and delicate. Such a cute little area to get really creative with.

Here are some ideas for decorating eggs I found online. Decorate with dried flowers here. Martha’s take on it with Lace Eggs and Polka-dotted Eggs. And, some really helpful tips all around for adults & kids here.

Hat tip to Naldz Graphics & Tee.ms! Thanks!

I’ve been stalking these rugs by Chicago artist, Amy Helfland. I love their organic nature and bright colors. The BEST part is that these great designs are produced through a company called Rugmark. Rugmark is an international non-profit company devoted to end child labor and offer educational opportunties for children in Southeast Asian countries. Buying through Rugmark insures that no illegal child labor was employed during manufacturing. Click here to find a retailer near you! Definitely want to add one of these to our home decor…take a look at some of my favs.

I’ve been slacking with my blog due to a new full-time job I got two weeks ago…I’m going to try and keep up this week. Even though I have less creative play time now, I do still have tons and tons of projects and creative do-it-yourself projects I want to tackle. Take a look at some the beautiful fabric from Henry Road. All of these fabrics can be made into fun bags, journals, pouches, etc. Here are some of my fav’s from their site. Take a look at these great project guides here and here.

Cavern’s Blackbird 1 comment

So- as usual, I’ve been filing away my favorite decorating ideas for my one day dream house. During my web searches, I came across Cavern’s beautiful blackbird wallpaper. It’s featured in five colors: kraft, snow, brown, green & white. It makes me think of a dreamy forest from a fairytale. Might be a little pricey for a whole room, but maybe just an accent wall. They go for $155/roll. Take a look at the fun glam shots. Can not wait to start decorating!

Play with Clay Comments Off

I am continually awed by what artists can do with their hands- from constructing amazing paper sculptures to creating imaginary worlds with clay (adult play-doh!). Meredith Dittmar is making some very imaginative characters and art with polymer clay. Take a look at her intricate handiwork on her site. Her etsy shop also sells some cute figurines- I’m going to have to snatch one of  her guys when she restocks.  Here are few from her collection.

Admist all the chaos of the recession and all, I find that baking & sewing is great outlet for stress. I definitely recommend it for everyone who is trying to stay sane. Today I fell upn a great fellow sewer and doll creater, Tamar Mogendorff. Her dolls are beautifully crafted from vintage fabric & buttons. I am particualry in love with her acorn & polar bears. Take a look here for some great pics…a lot more found on her site. You can also purchase her dolls here, and here, and here. I only hope this inspires you, as much as it inspired me to get my sew on!
